At the Faculty for Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Cologne a position for a W-2 Professorship for Experimental Nuclear Physics will be available at the Institute for Nuclear Physics starting 1st April 2007. The Institute offers with the 10 MV FN-Tandem-Van de Graaff accelerator, excellent research conditions, which are intensively used by internal and external groups. It is also actively involved in international collaborations, ie. RISING, AGATA, MINIBALL, HISPEC and the neutron sources ILL and FRM-II. The successful candidate should be internationally recognised in low-energy nuclear physics of heavy nuclei using gamma-ray spectroscopy and should strengthen the research directions of the Institute, especially through the use of the Tandem accelerator. The building of an independent research group at the Institute by means of significant external funding is expected. Teaching duties involve the complete experimental physics curriculum for the education of physics and medical students.
