The Biostatistics Section of the Program in Public Health invites applications for two new faculty positions, one senior (Associate or Full Professor, tenured) and one junior (Assistant Professor, tenure -track), available immediately.
Applications are invited from outstanding biostatisticians. Areas of particular interest to the Section include bioinformatics, the evaluation of biomarkers and diagnostic tests, the analysis of spatial data, and statistical methods for neuroscience. Candidates for Associate or Full Professor should have a nationally and internationally recognized record of innovative methods research in biostatistics, significant experience in interdisciplinary research, and demonstrated leadership potential. Candidates for Assistant Professor should provide evidence of outstanding research potential. All candidates must show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills and possess strong ability and interest in teaching and mentoring of students.
The new faculty members will join a highly interdisciplinary Biostatistics faculty of eight and will play an integral role in the ongoing expansion of biostatistics research and education at Brown. Current faculty research interests include diagnostic test evaluation, missing data and causal inference, bioinformatics, Bayesian inference, and health services research. Growth in Biostatistics is part of a major, ongoing expansion of research and educational programs in Public Health at Brown. The academic departments and research centers in Public Health, Medicine, and Biology at Brown and university wide research initiatives, such as Spatial Structures in Social Sciences, provide rich opportunities for interdisciplinary research.
