The Department of Biostatistics at Columbia University has an immediate opening for a senior faculty member to lead the Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Psychiatry and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. One of the world’s largest centers for mental health research, the Department of Psychiatry is involved in extensive and vigorous investigations related to psychiatry and neuroscience, including clinical trials, epidemiology, genetics, brain imaging, basic and cognitive neuroscience, health services and survey research, and seeks to develop a Division of Biostatistics with a commensurate leadership role in the field.
The senior faculty member will administer the Division in terms of its research and teaching commitments and will be involved in methodological research, collaboration with investigators from the Department of Psychiatry, mentoring of junior faculty members from the Division, teaching in the Department of Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, and mentoring Biostatistics students. There is an expectation of attracting external funding for research and training programs.
The successful applicant will hold a faculty appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor in the Department of Biostatistics, Mailman School of Public Health, with tenure for the qualified candidate. The position requires a Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics. The candidate is expected to have an outstanding record of independent and collaborative research and excellent communication skills, a substantial bibliography of peer-reviewed publications, and extensive experience collaborating on funded, peer-reviewed research.
