The Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Basel, Switzerland, invites outstanding scientists to apply for the position of
Assistant Professorship in Bio-Medical Data Analysis
beginning in spring or autumn 2007.
This is a non tenure track position limited to five years.
The University of Basel is promoting the growing area of computational life sciences. The Computer Science Departement, founded in 2002, is establishing a full Bachelor and Master program with a natural sciences and application-oriented profile.
Description:
The person to be appointed must have an excellent track record in the development of computational techniques for the analysis, the modelling and/or the simulation of biomedical data based on mathematical methods. Possible research areas include biomedical image analysis, data mining or text and document analysis. The position includes lecturing (English or German) in research related fields as well as general computer science.
The successful candidate is expected to establish close cooperation within the life sciences. Experience with industrial and academic cooperation is desirable.
